HOW TO MEASURE YOURSELF

Online shopping is one of our favourite hobbies and has a lot of advantages, but we can imagine that you may find it difficult or even a little daunting to buy something when you haven’t had a chance to see and try on the actual product and touch the material. After all, nothing is more frustrating than making a purchase that doesn’t meet your expectations or doesn’t fit. That’s why we pay the utmost attention to the presentation and description of the items in our collection and provide you with a unique size chart. Below we’ll explain how you can measure yourself in just a few easy steps.

Please note: our coats are measured flat, at the front. You can compare the measurements for a coat with a coat or cardigan you already own (not your body measurements) to determine the right size!

Step 1: Less clothes! Always measure yourself wearing underwear or shapewear only! After all, the last thing you want to do, is order a size that is way too big for you.
Step 2: Make sure the tape measure is neither too tight nor too loose: hold a finger between your body and the tape measure to ensure some room for comfort. Top tip: ask a friend, your lover or somebody else to lend a helping hand.
Step 3: Measure the bust at the fullest part (over your bra). In case of swimwear, you will need to measure on bare skin.
Step 4: Then measure the underbust width, this is the area directly under your bust. This does not correspond to your bra size!
Step 5: Your waist measurement is taken at the smallest part of your torso, just above your belly button.
Step 6: Stand up straight with your legs together and measure the curviest part of your hips and your buttocks, while wearing underwear/shapewear.
Step 7: Almost there! When buying trousers, you also need to measure your inseam. Measure the length of the inside of your leg, from the top of your leg to the floor.
Step 8: Want to measure for a coat? Put the coat flat on a table and measure from armpit to armpit.
Voilà! You can now look up your perfect size… and order away!

Our size charts are custom made 

It all starts with our Quality Control department. In the process, we closely examine and assess the fit, the material used and the degree of stretch. Based on these finding our Creative Fashionistas create a size chart in which they also include their advice on the size and fit to make choosing the right size as easy as possible for you..

Different brands, different fit
Topvintage offers clothing from designers from all over the world. This means that you won't find a standard size chart on our website, for the simple reason that every item has its own fit or size classification. So, it’s possible that you normally wear a size 40, but that according to one of our size charts you need a size XL.

You may also need a different size from one brand than you would from another brand. Do choose clothes that fit you well because they will be the most flattering on your figure and don't wear anything that is too small. After all, size is just a number (or a letter…) on a label so please order the size that we recommend in order to avoid a disappointing online shopping experience. .

Which size should I order?

When you measure yourself and then consult this size guide for the specific garment and any TIP! mentioned, you will be 99% sure of the right size. Every single item is measured ánd tried on by our TopVintage ladies. That is why every garment has its own specific size guide.

What's the reason for that? Every item, brand, style and material has its own fit and unfortunately there isn't a standard universal size chart. For more information on how to measure yourself, please read How to measure yourself?

I am slim/petite/ I have small breasts/big breasts/wide hips. Which size should I get?

How do I measure myself for clothing?

Always measure yourself wearing underwear or shapewear only to guarantee the most accurate result. Take the measurements of your hip, your bust (measured around the fullest part of your bust over your bra) and your waist (above your belly button). By consulting our size guides, you will be 99% sure of the right size. Here you will find more information and our practical video tutorial.

However, if you are still in doubt, we are happy to help! In order to give you the best possible advice, we need to know the following: your bust / waist / hip measurements measured as explained in the 'how do I measure myself correctly'.

I am short/tall, is this item suitable for me?

We fully measure all items ourselves, including the length. This length measurement is included in the size guide, which you will find with the item description.

I have bought dress X before. Which size should I choose for this style dress?

This size guide can be found in each garment's product description, making it easy for you to choose the right size.

I have very specific feet: which shoes will fit me?

Our shoes are fairly standard when it comes to their fit (width and height), unless it's mentioned otherwise in the item description.

Where do I find the heel heights of the shoes?

The heel height of a specific shoe is mentioned in the size guide of that product on the right-hand side.
